Race Equality Scheme

The Assets Recovery Agency recognises the importance of diversity to all aspects of our operations and internal systems. If we are to be successful in our mission of ensuring that crime doesn’t pay, we need to draw people from the widest possible range of backgrounds and with the widest possible range of skills. For this reason, our (Race) Equality Scheme forms the basis of our commitment to extend the general duty to promote race equality to the promotion of equality generally.

The core values underpinning equality legislation in Great Britain are central to the way we manage the Agency. This (Race) Equality Scheme, which relates to our activities in the United Kingdom, is closely allied to the Section 75 Equality Scheme that we will be implementing in relation to our work in Northern Ireland.

Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act extends to the promotion of equality of opportunity between:

  1. persons of different religious belief, political opinion, racial group, age, marital status or sexual orientation;
  2. men and women generally;
  3. persons with a disability and persons without; and
  4. persons with, and persons without, dependants.
